Gotta Love 'em
See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. ~ Matthew 18:10 (NIV)I am the mother of three boys--a 15 year old and six year old twins. I am definitely a "boy mom." I have had people tell me, "Oh, you need a little girl." Oh, dear, no! I just can't imagine fixing hair, sliding in hair bows, matching socks to outfits, etc. I truly admire mothers of girls. I have a hard enough time getting myself ready. There is no way I would survive getting another girl jazzed up. God knew exactly what I needed and exactly what I could handle. I love my Roosters!!
I love train tracks all down my hall, trucks being raced around the rooms, Nerf gun darts whizzing by my head and sticking to the TV, muddy faces, creatures being brought to me (I don't do insects or toads), talks about "girls," football games, wrestling matches (not so much), pick-ups from the gym, stinky socks, cleats by the backdoor, being told my "coolness level" is a 10, putting a dozen muffins on a plate and watching them being scarfed down in no time, cooking supper and an hour later being asked for a PBJ because they are all hungry AGAIN...Boys are wonderfully, amazing blessings from God just as girls are too. I am just thankful for my roosters. Boys totally rock!!
Just a few recent pictures of my guys...Gotta Love 'em!!
That would be my Blake (#55) making that tackle!!
This is the one sport in which I can not watch him participate. I would be the idiot mom marching across the floor pointing my finger and yelling, "Get your hands off my son. Don't you dare body slam him like that again!!"
Picking Blake up from school today. See the Nike swoosh with the bobbed wire on it? Well, I thought it was an Easter shirt. I thought the bobbed wire was thorns when I first saw the shirt. I bought it for that reason. When I got home, I immediately pulled the shirt from the bag first. I was so proud of my Easter purchase for him! As I was digging in the bag of stuff I bought for him, I said, "Blake, look at this really cool Nike shirt I found! It has the thorns of Jesus on the swoosh!!" Blake hung his head and shook it and then said, "Mom, those are not thorns on the swoosh; it is bobbed wire!!" Huh? Oops! If I had have known that I would have left it hanging for the price I paid for it!!
My big rooster! This big kid showed me just how cool it is to be a boy mom!
Oh, yes. That is an earthworm. I can handle worms. I just don't do certain insects. We had an all day shower the day before and this little worm was on our walkway. Nick decided to save it by putting it back onto the dirt so it could burrow back into the ground. Isn't that just the sweetest thing?
John Ryan knows how to enjoy a chocolate chip cookie--no napkins required. You certainly wouldn't be able to tell from this picture that John Ryan is my child that does not like to get dirty.
The boys have an amazing teacher this year. We love Mrs. Stewart!! She has instilled such a love for learning in them. The twins are constantly asking to play sight word games and math games on the computer.
Nick is going through a Dr. Seuss phase right now. I am not a Seuss fan. I know, I know. How can one not love Dr. Seuss? How can one be a teacher and not love Dr. Seuss?! I just don't care for the nonsense words he uses. I like Sneetches, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Oh, the Places You'll Go, Green Eggs and Ham, etc...But do not give me that Hop on Pop stuff.
The boys attend a kindergarten that is church-based. Again, it is the best kindergarten I could have ever hopped to find for them. I love it as much as they do. Everyone is so dedicated to their job and just love the children. Anyway, here are the roosters riding the sheep on the front of the church lawn. The sermon title for this Sunday is "Feed My Sheep." The boys asked could they go "see" the sheep when I picked them up today. They looked at it for two seconds before deciding that they had rather ride the sheep.
I can't imagine not having these three fantastic roosters. I enjoy them so much. I think stinky boys are just the coolest creatures ever!! I thank God for giving me just what I needed--a house full of wild, rumbustious boys!!
