Ground Hog's Day!

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. ~ 2 Corinthians 4: 16

Today is Ground Hog's Day and it seems that Phil saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter.  Um, what happened to global warming?  I guess I'll keep my boots out for a while longer.  I just bought some new booties, so I'm sort of liking a little more cold weather.

Missed church today because I wanted to make sure John Ryan was okay.  He is terribly shy, and I wasn't sure how he would do being away from home if he had to run to the restroom which he has been having to do.  He had gastritis which lasted four days.  The poor child lost four pounds in four days.  I think we are finally over it, and I hope and pray no one else in the house gets it.

The gang are all watching the Super Bowl.  I'm not really into pro ball.  I love college football, but the pros just don't really interest me.  I guess I would like to see Denver win b/c I think the Colts did Manning wrong.  I think a Super Bowl win would be a happy ending to the saga (if you can really call it that).

Stayed up WAY too late last night reading a novel.  Before children, I read all the time--all the time. I carried a book in my pocketbook in case I ended up somewhere waiting.  I used to go to the beach and lay out all day just reading and moving my chair away from the waves that constantly chased me.  Last night I realized that much hasn't changed with me when it comes to reading.  When I get caught up in a novel, time totally escapes me.  It is like I am transported to this "novel" world and I'll just read until the story ends.  I managed to stop myself last night but not before it was way late.

And, as always, here are a few pictures of things going on with the Dew Crew.

This was John Ryan yesterday as I was folding clothes.  He crawled on the sofa next to me and was out in no time.  Look at those cheeks.  His profile looks just like it did when he was an infant.  Melts my heart.

And yet another pair of jeans with the knees gone.  Boys!  Gggrrr!

The Colonel brought me roses home today.  I guess we better prepare for snow again.  Just kidding.  He actually does this a good bit.

Super Bowl (greasy) chili.  I put my corn on the side and sort of mixed it as I ate.

I thought I just needed to take a picture of a least something of the game.

I guess there is an advantage to having this big, ole TV.

And have you seen the cover of People magazine?  Christie Brinkley turns 60.  I had to buy it to find out her secrets b/c she looks great to be 60.  I realize photo software can do wonders, but it is still limited.  It seems she doesn't eat meat.  (Forget that.  I'd die without a porkchop!)  She gets hair extensions.  (I don't do much with what I have, so forget adding more to my mop.)  She runs and lifts weights.  (I have three boys--enough said.)  She does leg lifts while brushing her teeth. (Leg lifts?  What are those?  It's all I can do to get my teeth brushed.)  For a "sweet treat" she drinks cold coconut water.  (WHAT?!!  No chocolate?!  She is killing me!!)  She wears panty hose.  Some brand called Noblesse by Fogal.  (I might look into those.)  I'm sort of ticked-off b/c she didn't say one thing about old age cream.  My counter is full and it seems to be doing nothing for me.  Brinkley did say she exfoliated daily, so I guess I'll add a jar of sand-feeling cream to my collection.  I take the vitamins and such, but I'll be dog if they are doing what hers are doing for her.

I guess I need to get ready for my work week.  It is going to be so hard to work five full days after so many broken up weeks.  Busy week though as Dinner with Dads is happening in the Forest, and NASA night is happening at the Lake.  Okay, I'm off to see if I can't scrub my wrinkles away.  (Coconut water for a sweet treat?  Really?  I'm sorry.  That is just so wrong.  HAHA!  Double fudge brownie with ice cream and hot fudge--now THAT is right!!)
